FLACS CFD Modeling Courses
It is important that the personnel performing FLACS simulations are trained to the correct level of competence and understanding of the capabilities of the code. Regular training courses required for the competent use of FLACS are included in the lease. GexCon also operates a user qualification scheme in order to assure the competence of the users. This is to ensure that the client requesting FLACS simulations can always be assured of the quality of the simulations.
FLACS courses are given at two levels. FLACS I is a 3-day course covering the basic use of the code and dispersion and explosion processes including the following topics:
- Introduction to gas explosions and FLACS
- Pre-processor CASD
- Definition of grid and calculation of porosities
- Validation of FLACS
- Definition of Scenario
- Post-processor Flowvis
- QA of scenarios and simulations
- Summary (Advanced options, blast waves in the far field, etc)
FLACS II deals with the more advanced use and is a 1-day course normally given 2-4 months after the basic course including the following topics:
- Refreshing explosion knowledge
- Pre- and post-processing
- Modeling of leaks and dispersion
- Water deluge, inert gas
- Grid embedding guidelines
- Blast propagation in the far field
- Advanced use of FLACS, more options
- Weaknesses when using more reactive gases
- Validation of FLACS
- Quality Assurance
Courses are normally held in Bergen - Norway, Skelmersdale - UK and Washington - US.
Specially tailored courses are available upon request.
You can register for this course on-line. If you have a question regarding the FLACS courses please contact:
